First Appearance

Konoe is the protagonist of Lamento, and is introduced as an independent cat who lives alone in a village called Karou. He is forced to leave his home due to a curse that is suddenly cast on him by a sorcerer named Leaks. He is also chosen as the next sacrifice by the chieftain of Karou in order to feed other starving villagers shortly after he discovers the curse.

Physical Appearance

Konoe is around 5'8. He has ashy blond hair that sits at his shoulders and amber eyes. He often wears two black gauntlets to cover up the marks of his curse, and a long, black, draping cloak to cover his black ears and tail. When not inflicted with Leaks’s curse, his ears and tail are a pale white color with spots of light brown on them. He has a crooked tail which he is insecure about.

Personality

Konoe is awkward with his words and needs courage to speak with others. He easily gives in to self-hatred when he feels hopeless, but he has a strong and courageous heart, and channels his anger and sadness into strength. While he is aware of when killing is necessary, he does not tolerate needless violence and is reluctant to hurt others due to his empathy. He appears to be quite introverted most of the time, but when he’s with people that he is familiar with, he is quite relaxed and outspoken. Nevertheless, being an introvert, he still finds it difficult to make new connections. Due to living in the secluded village of Karou for most of his life, Konoe has a slight naivety about how the world works. He’s insecure about his terrible sense of direction, crooked tail, and fear of fire, and when anyone comments about these things, he gets quite embarrassed and angry.
