Konoe is the protagonist of Lamento, and is introduced as an independent cat who lives alone in a village called Karou. He is forced to leave his home due to a curse that is suddenly cast on him by a magician named Leaks. He is also chosen as the next sacrifice by the chief of Karou in order to feed the other starving villagers shortly after he discovers the curse.
